Harry Potter eventually gets really good, right?

After I read that Stephen King was standing in line at midnight to get the last Harry Potter book I finally decided to stop being a snob about it and get on board. I finished book one a couple nights ago and thought it was fine, but not totally awesome or anything, although wizard chess seems pretty cool. Anyway, I'm withholding judgment until I get to book three because I understand that's when everything gets good. Right, Carly, Kacy, and all you other Harry Potter freaks out there?

You can say it's Stephen King, but I know it was your public shaming on my blog. I'm glad I can make a difference through blog.

Three's good, four's awes. 5 and 6 are super awes and 7 rules. I envy you.

I don't think you can say waiting for Stephen King's okay on Harry Potter is the same as deciding to stop being a snob. But you could count that lowbrow cherry cream pie or when you read Skinny Dip.

I resent being called a Harry Potter FREAK. A lot of rational literature-loving people run around wearing "Harry is my Homeboy" t-shirts. Trust me: books 3-7 are awes. I guess they aren't awes like some peeps think environmental poetry is awes. So maybe you shouldn't take my word for it.

Carly: I hope you don't think I like environmental poetry.

Kacy & Carly: Thanks for the encouragement. I'm excited for book three.

Marcy: I know I'm still a snob. Thanks for accepting me anyway.

My environmental poetry slam was more of a reaction to the recent book club I attended where everyone seemed to be in love with fancy environmental/semi-autobiographical creative nonfiction. No one was even willing to DISCUSS Harry Potter! They were too busy talking about the Provo river!

Carly--I'm relieved that you don't think I'm like those fools in your book club.

If I had to read a couple books in a series to get to the "good part", then I vote nada.
I have never really gotten into HP, although this past weekend as I was channel surfing on the telley I ran across HP (don't ask me which one) and felt compelled to stop and watch for a few minutes until time to go to dinner.

I don't know anything about environmental poetry...but for some reason I can't commit to reading the last Harry Potter book. I don't know why, but I just can't seem to start reading it.
